    April 21, 2020 / 7 Comments

One of the most rewarding ways to celebrate Earth Day is by educating others. As the effects of climate change become more evident each day, more and more authors and illustrators have come to action and created beautiful books to teach the youth about the importance of protecting our planet. We know it’s future generations that will be most affected. Enjoy this list of 14 picture books that are as diverse as our planet. Many of these I use in my own classroom. Wildfires may have cut our hiking trip short, but Wildfires may have cut our hiking trip short, but the PNW is still one of my favorite areas. Just another reminder of how climate change causes extreme weather in the most beautiful places.
✨New post!✨ Party favors for the planet 🌎 M ✨New post!✨ Party favors for the planet 🌎 My son recently turned two, and I got to thinking about kids party favors. While fun, they tend to be cheaply made, plastic, and have a short life before breaking or being donated, where they will mostly end up in landfills. Are there some more eco friendly options? For my son’s birthday we gave wildflower seeds and recycled crayons (did you know that 60 million crayons are thrown away every year?). Check out my new post for seven ideas for party favors that are better for the planet.
Vermont you always have my heart. Every time I vi Vermont you always have my heart. Every time I visit I’m impressed with how VT has become a national leader in sustainability. There is a ban on single-use plastics and laws requiring composting and banning food scraps from landfills. The state is actively setting goals to combat climate change. Gives me hope for the future. Stay green 802. 💚
My favorite summer activity- simply spending time My favorite summer activity- simply spending time outdoors. I’ve been doing the 30 mile hike challenge with my toddler to raise money for @stjude .He loves going on little hikes and picking wildflowers. Part of #plasticfreejuly for me as a parent is showing him the material-free joys in life. Yesterday we did mile 27 on a beautiful knoll in Woodstock.
