Minimizing Stress for the Holidays and Adding a New Family Member

    January 4, 2020 / 2 Comments

Many words come to mind when I think of the holidays. Merriment. Joy. Family. Food. Presents. I doubt I am alone when I also think of another word: stress. I come from a divorced household which doesn’t make the holidays difficult necessarily, but it does make the holidays…different. Instead of picturing my family gathered around the table I plan out how I’m going to attempt to split up my time evenly between two houses. In contrast my husband’s parents have been together for 40 years, so it’s hard for him to relate. Now my brothers and I all live in separate states and I have in-laws to visit as well.…

    Sunsais: Trust What You Wear

    September 17, 2018 / No Comments

Barcelona is one of the best shopping cities in Europe.  The shops seem to flow out of every corner in every district, and it is admittedly hard to show self-restraint.  If you’re going to pick one district, I recommend the Gracia district.  Sunsais is located in Vila de Gracia, which has been called “Barcelona’s coolest suburb”.  This historic old center is where the famous Festa Major de Garcia takes place in August- a huge street party of concerts, food and drink, and a wonder of spectacular themed decorations.  During the other months tourists can enjoy restaurants, cafes, and art galleries.  There are also a variety of shops on every cobblestone…

    Journey to Sesimbra, Portugal

    September 15, 2018 / No Comments

Our first stop in Portugal was Sesimbra– a beautiful coastal town famous for its fishing, seafood, and stunning beaches, just a short drive from Lisbon.  Sesimbra lies at the foothills of the Serra de Arrabida, a mountain range extending between Setubal and Sesimbra.  Sesimbra is best known for its fishing, particularly its swordfish fishing, and is abundant with small traditional seafood restaurants.  Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Gold Beach Coast Line, and visit the ruins a Moorish castle on a nearby mountaintop. After a long flight to Lisbon, Sesimbra seemed like the perfect destination to rest and recoup.  We enjoyed a short 30 minute drive through dry countryside,…

Having a baby has certainly challenged my sustain Having a baby has certainly challenged my sustainability goals. I know that disposable diapers create a lot of waste- in fact an estimated 3.5 million tons of waste every year. But I couldn’t bring myself to commit to doing the reusable cloth diapers. I was thrilled to discover another solution- @nestdiapers are plant-based, biodegradable, and I can compost them! Best part is they’re also affordable. We tested these diapers all along the PNW this summer and they held up great for our active little family. 🥰
After 2.5 years, we’re finally back to traveling After 2.5 years, we’re finally back to traveling and exploring new places- now with a baby in tow! We enjoyed Vancouver’s many breweries while the little guy napped. I was so impressed with how advanced this city is when it comes to sustainability as well! More on this later.
