The holidays are just around the corner, and it’s time to make our plans. Millions of Americans travel each year to see family for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but with the spread of COVID-19 increasing daily and by dramatic numbers, it may be a good year to adjust your holiday plans. It’s unclear how safe it is to travel by plane, and is it worth the risk? Now is a great time to stay local to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. It’s also a great time to shop local, as many small businesses are suffering and need our support. Why shop local? You can buy handmade, one-of-a-kind products The…

Is this an America we can be Proud of?

    October 16, 2020 / 9 Comments

I find myself asking this question a lot. When I think about the current state of our country, I instantly hear Childish Gambino’s “This is America” in my head. The incredibly catchy, yet haunting mix of choir and trap music plays like an anthem for the current disarray in our country. If you haven’t seen the “This is America” music video, with it’s many metaphors about race and gun violence in America, I highly recommend it. Warning: there are images some may find disturbing. Although Donald Glover released the song under his musical moniker, Childish Gambino, in 2018, it’s just as timely now. Going into the the 2020 election, our…

I have been thinking a lot recently about the importance of educating young ones about climate change, global warming, and the environmental crisis. As a teacher, I try to emphasize good habits in my classroom, like saving electricity, recycling, and not wasting food. However, with so many great eco-friendly friendly products out there I think it’s time to take it a step further. I Just Want To Hang With My Dog

    July 26, 2018 / 3 Comments

It’s true.  I do just want to hang with my dog.  His name is Finn, he’s a rescue, and he’s pretty much the coolest guy I know.  So when I spotted this dog lovers tee at The Flourish Market I knew I had to have it. “Here at the Flourish Market, every product has a bigger purpose, just like you” states the Flourish Market’s website.  Originally started as a uniform truck then a do-good clothing truck, Em Sexton opened the brick & mortar store in downtown Raleigh in 2016.  The store partners with 50+ brands in the United States and all over the world to to provide jobs and fair wages…

This is a true conversation piece. People ask “ This is a true conversation piece. People ask “Why does your bag say 75 on it?” Well so happy you ask. The number on each bag represents the number of school meals provided with your purchase. @feed has provided over 100 million meals to school children all over the world and in the US. Their mission feeds children and incentivizes their families to keep their kids in school.
